This position is essential for optimising storage performance, ensuring data protection, and implementing robust disaster recovery solutions. You will be responsible for managing VMware VSAN, SAN storage, and backup systems, ensuring the organisation's storage infrastructure operates at peak efficiency.
About the Role: As a Storage/Backup Specialist, you will manage and optimise VMware VSAN, stretch clusters, and SAN storage solutions while ensuring seamless data access and retention. You will also be responsible for designing and managing backup solutions, monitoring data protection processes, and maintaining disaster recovery systems to guarantee business continuity.
You must hold an NV1 (or above) security clearance to be considered for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and manage VMware VSAN and Stretch Clusters to optimise storage performance and scalability.
Configure and maintain SAN storage solutions, ensuring efficient data access and retention.
Design, implement, and manage backup solutions using Avamar Data Domain and Azure Backup.
Monitor and troubleshoot backup jobs, ensuring the reliability of data protection processes.
Implement and manage Azure Recovery Vault for effective disaster recovery solutions.
Develop, document, and enforce backup policies to ensure data integrity and compliance.
Regularly review and update backup policies based on changing business requirements.
Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans, ensuring rapid data restoration.
Continuously monitor storage performance and capacity, making necessary adjustments to optimise efficiency.
Generate reports on storage utilisation and performance metrics for capacity planning.
Implement security measures to protect storage and backup environments, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and regulations.
Conduct regular audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
Requirements:
Proven experience in managing VMware VSAN, SAN storage, and backup systems.
Strong skills in Avamar Data Domain and Azure Backup management.
Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Ability to troubleshoot and optimise backup jobs for data protection.
Familiarity with Azure Recovery Vault and its implementation.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to generate reports on storage performance and capacity.
