KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving and Delivering Goods:
Safely transport goods and materials to designated locations, adhering to planned routes.
Ensure timely and efficient delivery of cargo while maintaining high safety standards.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to assess vehicle systems.
Conduct basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as refuelling and oil checks.
Report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the maintenance team.
Documentation and Paperwork:
Maintain accurate delivery records including logbooks, delivery receipts, and bills of lading.
Review shipping documents to verify the correct goods are loaded and inspect the condition of goods before and after transport.
Obtain signatures or certifications to confirm successful delivery.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
Maintain a clean driving record and accurately log driving hours in compliance with company and legal guidelines.
Customer Interaction:
Communicate professionally with clients and customers, addressing any issues or concerns that arise during deliveries.
Problem Solving:
Manage unexpected challenges such as traffic delays, road closures, or equipment malfunctions.
Implement solutions to ensure timely delivery while maintaining safety.
Vehicle Manoeuvring:
Safely position the vehicle for loading and unloading, ensuring precise control to avoid damage to the vehicle, goods, or surrounding area.
Loading and Unloading Vehicles:
Assist in loading and unloading goods using specialized equipment such as forklifts, cranes, or hydraulic lifts.
Ensure the safe and secure transport of cargo by properly positioning and securing items.
Observing Safety Requirements:
Follow all safety protocols, including the use of appropriate safety gear and correct lifting techniques.
Secure loads to prevent accidents or injuries, ensuring adherence to all legal and operational guidelines.
Estimating Weights to Comply with Law:
Ensure the cargo’s weight does not exceed legal or vehicle-specific limits.
Verify that the load is evenly distributed to avoid accidents or damage during transport.
Ensuring Goods Are Stowed and Covered:
Safeguard goods by properly securing and covering them to protect against shifting, weather, or other hazards during transit.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum HC License (Cert II)
Minimum 1 Year of experience as a truck driver
Proficiency in operating and manoeuvring heavy commercial vehicles.
Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic repairs.
Ability to follow and adhere to road safety regulations and company policies.
Experience with loading and unloading goods, including the use of specialized equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes, hydraulic lifts).
Strong problem-solving skills to manage unexpected issues like road delays or vehicle malfunctions.
Understanding of weight compliance laws and safe load distribution.
