Role Summary:
A Motor Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing petrol engines and mechanical systems of lightweight motor vehicles. This includes working on key components such as transmissions, suspension, steering, and brakes to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition. Motor mechanics diagnose issues, perform routine maintenance, replace or repair faulty parts, and conduct thorough testing to ensure all repairs meet safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues in engines and vehicle components.
- Disassemble and remove engine systems, transmissions, steering components, and other parts for inspection and assessment.
- Repair or replace damaged or worn parts, and reassemble mechanical components following service manuals.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups to ensure optimal vehicle performance and adherence to emission standards.
- Reassemble engines and parts after completing necessary repairs.
- Test and calibrate mechanical components post-repair to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Use computerized tools to diagnose and test vehicle parts.
- Inspect vehicles to issue roadworthiness certificates or suggest repairs to meet road safety standards.
- Provide assistance for vehicle breakdowns on service calls.
Qualifications
Certificate III and two years of experience in relevant field.
