Pig Farmer Required
Riverbend Pork Group Pty Ltd is a group of independent Australian farming families working together to produce great tasting, export quality fresh pork.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist in the running of piggery including organising and conducting all necessary farming operations.
Assist in maximising the incoming, outgoing and internal flow/logistics requirements of the farm (finishing stage uses liquid feeding system) including organisation of the selection and transportation of livestock.
Report to and liaise with the Farm Manager regarding farm operations, staff operations, and site works delivery.
Plan, organise, control, coordinate and perform farming operations to raise livestock.
Under guidance from the Farm manager, liaise with the Production Nutritionist to optimise feed quality and herd performance including providing fodder to maintain appropriate nutritional levels and optimise feeding opportunities.
Under guidance from the Farm manager, liaise with the Production Veterinarian to monitor and optimise herd health, condition and performance of livestock.
Assist in general farming activities such as maintaining structures, machinery, fences, equipment, water supply systems, pens, sheds, pest control programs and activities, etc.
Assist in training and supervision of farm staff and contractors and related reporting.
Assist in the supervision of the site and facilities in terms of the required human resources, physical resources, safety requirements, consumables, documentation and measurement devices.
Assist in maintenance and compliance of the Company Quality Assurance (QA) program for the site ensuring that all relevant documentation is kept current.
Assist in data collection and recording so information is accurate to aid stock and inventory control.
Undertake specific tasks as assigned by management to ensure that environmental, quality and safety goals are met.
Participate in daily inspection of livestock, ensuring compromised animals are individually assessed, identified, treated and record in accordance with the Company Herd Health Plan and the industry's Model Code of Practice.
Euthanise sick or injured stock in a humane manner and in accordance with the Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals: Pigs.
Assist in the conduct of post-mortem examinations of deceased stock and report findings.
Participate in company/industry training sessions and workshops as required.
Perform any other duty as required by your Manager.

Successful applicants will have:
Bachelor Degree or higher in Agriculture or related field or equivalent qualifications + 3 years of recent and relevant work experience, OR minimum 5 years of recent and relevant work experience.
Working knowledge of relevant industry and legislative guidelines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to engage, influence and implement.
Excellent organisational skills with a positive attitude.
Experienced in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to meet tight deadlines.
Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Create a safe and inclusive working environment.
Possess a clean and unrestricted C-Class Drivers Licence.
Physically fit - labouring required and physically demanding tasks.
Salary:
$70,000 - $75,000 plus superannuation (dependent on experience)
