Manage the provision of early childhood services within a region, to provide viable, high-quality services that comply with legislative and capacity requirements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide high-level management of services in a region to ensure they operate efficiently, cost effectively, and contribute to a robust quality early years’ service system. The services include 3- and 4-year-old Preschool, Long Day Child Care and Occasional Care.
- Ensure adherence to performance and outcome targets and indicators and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Work in collaboration with other members of the Family, Youth and Children’s Services Leadership Team to contribute to the identification and implementation of strategic directions and achievement of goals and actions identified in the whole Family, Youth and Children’s Services Department portfolio areas.
- Support the development of systems, policies, procedures, and practice guidelines and, within a region, ensure implementation, compliance, and consistency of practice.
- Provide leadership and support to Regional Team Leader/s, implement strategic planning objectives, and establish frameworks for staff development and performance.
- Foster a commitment to a customer service culture, ensuring high standards of communication and cooperation within the unit and emphasises shared accountability for satisfying recipient needs.
- Provide opportunities for families to participate in service planning activities in a manner that is valued and recognises individual family needs, relationships, and cultural backgrounds.
- Work as a member of the Family, Youth and Children’s Services Leadership Team and the broader organisation to design appropriate change management and implementation plans in response to the early years reform agenda timelines and critical milestones.
- Support the implementation of Child Safe Standards, information sharing processes and initiate Reportable Conduct investigation processes.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated ability to comply with relevant legislation, government policies, guidelines and standards related to Family Youth and Children’s Services.
- High level liaison and collaboration skills, to support, influence and gain cooperation and maintain effective partnerships and networks.
- Ability to deal with complex and difficult situations and the ability to liaise and collaborate with counterparts in own organisation and in other organisations to resolve specialist problems.
- A conceptual understanding of the theory and practice in early childhood development and service provision.
- Working knowledge of the relevant legislations pertaining to the field of Early Childhood.
- Working knowledge of, and ability to administer the Quality systems (such as National Quality Standards) and process.
- Sound knowledge of Commonwealth and State funding agreements.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing policy, strategies, and programs relevant to young children and families.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- A degree and several years’ experience in Early Childhood Development or a diploma qualification with extensive relevant experience.
