Programmed, in partnership with Tweed Shire Council has an opportunity for a 1 st Year New Entrant Mechanical Fitter apprentice commencing January 2025.

Programmed are seeking motivated applicants that have a great eye for detail, are mechanically minded, have a strong commitment to safety, a passion for the mechanical industry and the drive to commit to a 4-year Apprenticeship.
As a full-time Apprentice, you may be eligible to receive a total of $5,000 in Government incentives under the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System.
Working as an Apprentice in this trade may see you completing the following tasks:
To assist tradespersons, carry out mechanical maintenance and servicing of Council's water and waste-water treatment plants, sewerage systems, swimming pools, and miscellaneous pumping systems.
Remove, maintain and install pump systems.
Diagnose and repair pumping systems.
Inspect pumping systems regularly and make any adjustments or repairs needed by removing worn or damaged parts to install replacements.
Work as a team member.
Attend safety Toolbox talks, contribute to the team's safety.
To be considered you must have the following:
Completed Year 10 education.
Competent numeracy & literacy skills.
Current drivers licence and reliable transport.
Positive attitude.
General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencement.
Commitment to become trade qualified.
Demonstrated capacity to work as a team member.
Demonstrated capacity to work safely.
Work Location:
The position can be directed to work anywhere within the Tweed Shire however the depot is based out of the Mechanical and Electrical Facility in Chinderah.
TAFE Requirements:
You will also be required to attend TAFE one day per week in Lismore/Alstonville NSW (Wollongbar TAFE). Travel assistance may be applicable through VTAS funding.
