We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Civil Construction Traineeship, specialising in Road Construction and Maintenance, located in the Townsville Region, QLD.

As a trainee, you will be hosted by a leading Civil Construction company that offers excellent mentoring, hands-on training, and a focus on teamwork and innovation. This role will involve working outdoors in potentially challenging conditions, including heat, dust, and night shifts on a rotating roster. Civil construction is a physically demanding industry, so it's important that applicants can meet these requirements. The position offers an excellent above-award pay rate with potential overtime and penalty rates.
Undertaking a traineeship you will learn, but not limited to, the following:
Learn to Construct and Rehabilitate Roads and Road Furniture
Plan and organise work
Carry out measurements and calculations
Read, interpret plans & specifications
Use hand and power tools
Potential to obtain plant/machinery accredited tickets
Control the work methods to ensure that construction work is carried out in an efficient and compliant manner
Comply with safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment and to ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation
Ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to complete a Nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Civil Construction - Road Construction Maintenance RII30915
Mandatory Requirements
OHS Construction White Card essential prior to commencement
Current Drivers Licence and reliable transport
Flexible to work days and potentially night works
Flexible to work away on a roster/rotation
Strong commitment to complete Traineeship
Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative
Other Requirements
Passion for 'hands on work' and a genuine desire to work in construction
General labouring experience an advantage
Motivated and willing to learn with a positive self-starter attitude
Competent numeracy & literacy skills with Year 10 High school certificate
Proven experience working within a team environment
Commitment to complete theory/written and practical components of the qualification
