Manjit’s Indian Restaurant (Mitali) Corrimal NSW is seeking to employ 2 x qualified Chefs to complement our kitchen team with an immediate start on a full-time basis.
You should hold a minimum of a diploma in a culinary field, or equivalent experience as a Chef. The salary range offered is $74,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation depending on the skills and experience of the candidate/s. The roles are open to Australian residents as well as overseas professionals. 482 work sponsorship can be considered for the selected overseas Chef/s.
Main responsibilities involve the following:
• Overall supervise and coordinate activities of the kitchen team, including cooks, assistants and kitchen support staff
• Plan and implement menu modifications based on market trends, popularity, seasonal availability and profitability ratio
• Create and trial new items and menu specials to maintain advantage over local competition and enhance sales factor
• Hire, select, and train new cooks in menu practices, presentation techniques, food quality and service standards
• Plan menus, costings and staff for banquets and functions with the Director
• Overall responsible for food estimations and budgeting for day-to-day labour costs, and selecting vendors and suppliers with the management
• Responsible for wastage reduction, optimised efficiency and scheduled reporting.
• Handle personnel management for the entire kitchen team such as rostering, sanctioning of leave, unscheduled leave planning, staffing for events, job shadowing, promotions and performance of staff
• Oversee stock orders, inventory levels, quality of food and supplies from the vendors, and oversee the quality of the products and equipment supplied
• Manage staff behaviour, resolve conflicts and lead to a harmonious team balance
• Overall, in charge of any food, presentation, quality and kitchen related issues and concerns
