Required qualifications, experience and skills
• Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cooking with a minimum 2 years of experience as a chef.
• Experience in working within a dynamic and high performing kitchen.
• Strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills to lead by example and set a welcoming culture and environment within a fast paced and exciting work environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address issues promptly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes.
• Plan menus, estimate food costs, order or requisition food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.
• Oversee the quality of dishes at every stage, from preparation to presentation, ensuring high standards are consistently met.
• Demonstrate correct food handling techniques and temperature/storage controls procedures.
• Lead and manage the kitchen team, including supervision, training, and developing cost-effective staff rosters.
• Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
• Instruct cooks and other workers in the preparation cooking garnishing and presentation of food.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Maintain a positive, timely, and enthusiastic attitude under pressure, with a commitment to interacting with clients and staff; and actively contribute to team training and promote inclusion within the workplace.
• Knowledge of nutrition and cost-effective menu planning to accommodate various dietary needs and preferences.
