An outstanding fulltime opportunity has arisen for a motivated Risk and Compliance Analyst. This role provides vital support to the business in helping to maintain and support the team in various compliance functions such as developing, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures, maintenance of contracts and other registers and completion of second-line reviews for AML/CTF enhanced due diligence. The primary focus of this role is to play a critical role in maintaining compliance and risk standards across various critical operations of the bank.
About the Role
Working within our Risk and Governance division, and reporting to the Senior Manager Credit & Operational Risk, some of your responsibilities would include:
• Risk and Compliance Support: Provide critical support in maintaining risk & compliance procedures, ensuring alignment with company policies and regulatory standards.
• Fraud & Scam Management: Oversee and conduct comprehensive quality assurance procedures on handling and reporting of fraud and scam incidents as well as managing anti-scam systems such as transaction monitoring tools.
• Regulatory & Compliance Training: Conduct second-line reviews of AML/CTF compliance programs and ensure staff training is aligned with industry and regulatory standards.
• Operational Assistance: Assist the operations team during periods of staff shortages, ensuring continuity and smooth functioning of essential banking operations.
• Executive-level Reporting: Prepare reports and draft minutes of the meeting for the Executive Risk and Compliance Committee attended by senior management, this will be subsequently reported to the Risk Committee, comprising of board members.
• Vendor Management: Participate in second-line reviews of vendor management activities, ensuring vendor operations align with the bank’s risk framework and compliance standards.
• High-Level Industry Involvement: Actively participate in industry events of the mutual banking industry contributing to discussions on fraud and risk management.
• Risk and Compliance Reporting: Assist in preparing risk and compliance reports, including proposals and recommendations to the Executive Risk and Compliance Committee and Risk Committee.
• Risk Appetite Statement Reporting: Conduct data analysis on monthly loan settled report and overall loan portfolio report to update the Risk appetite statement reporting subsequently reported to APRA to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Systems Analysis: Assist with testing, analysis and evaluation of business systems, particularly regarding lending serviceability and loan origination, to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Risk & Compliance Projects: Actively engage in risk and compliance projects, offering insights on system improvements and process enhancements to ensure project success.
• Policy and Procedure Development: Review, draft and update operational procedures and policies, contributing to improvement in business processes, stakeholder satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
• Dispute Resolution and AFCA complaints: Handle disputes through the internal dispute resolution process and manage AFCA complaints, ensuring resolution in line with compliance requirements.
• Prudential Standards and Regulatory Guides: Staying updated with various prudential standards and regulatory guides and other regulatory frameworks. Incorporating any changes to internal policies and procedures.
About You
To be successful in this role, your experience and qualifications would be:
• Bachelor' or higher degree in Risk Management or Banking and finance.
• 3+ years of experience in the banking sector, with a minimum of 1.5 years spent working in Risk and Compliance.
• Advanced knowledge or Industry certifications in operational banking procedures.
Your technical skills would be:
• Expertise in drafting and reviewing compliance policies and operational procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and Gateway’s internal policies
• Strong proficiency in AML/CTF compliance, including conducting second-line reviews for high-risk entities and suspicious transaction reports.
• Ability to analyse fraud and scam incidents, develop reports and implement effective fraud management systems to mitigate risks.
• Experience in handling internal dispute resolution cases and managing AFCA complaints.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting processes, including extracting and compiling data for Board level reporting.
• Risk assessment expertise, with a focus on conducting comprehensive risk evaluations of high-risk entities and assessing operational vulnerabilities.
• Proficient in process mapping and developing risk tolerances for various banking operations for sound risk management.
• Expertise in managing vendor compliance reviews, ensuring third-party operations align with contractual obligations and regulatory standards.
• Skilled in UAT testing for both lending and non-lending systems, ensuring system functionality and compliance with operational requirements.
• Strong knowledge of ServiceNow or other project management tools to streamline risk and compliance activities.
• Proficient in Core Banking systems, GRC products such as Drova, ensuring seamless integration and compliance with risk frameworks.
• Strong technical documentation skills, capable of preparing clear and comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders, regulators and external auditors.
• Skilled in financial investigation, such as tax reconciliation and handling of member disputes withing the framework of banking regulations.
• Experience with LMS systems, including assigning and managing training for employees as per staff training matrix and scheduled requirements.
• Familiarity with payment infrastructure, including understanding how payment systems operate, handling complex payment disputes and determining liabilities as per ePayments code.
• Proficient with Microsoft suite such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc. along with strong data analysis skills including knowledge of VBA, ensuring efficient and effective data management.
