THE BAXTER INN
The Baxter Inn is looking for an accomplished Bar Manager to join the team. We are searching for someone who can help lead an already experienced and talented team to further success.
The Baxter Inn is a Sydney institution and after 14 years remains one of the cities busiest and most iconic bars, featuring blues, whisky and a warm ambience.
Our focus is on our guests. We guarantee friendly service, a high-quality product, beautiful atmosphere and overall, a magical experience.
Since its inception, The Baxter Inn has won numerous awards, solidifying its reputation as one of Australia’s best venues. The Baxter Inn has featured in ‘Worlds 50 Best Bars’, Australian Bartender Magazine, TimeOut Sydney, Gourmet Traveller, Sydney Morning Herald, Delicious Magazine & Bars and Clubs Magazine.
The Baxter Inn has one of Australia’s largest rare whisky selections. Our goal is to share this with as many of our guests as possible. We try our best to be approachable, never arrogant or condescending. The customer always comes first.
Whisky is our focus, yet our drinks selection is broad. We focus on classic cocktails using modern techniques and methodology. Our beer list is wide-ranging and our wine list is boutique in nature with attention paid to small producers with low intervention winemaking practises.
The Bar Manager's duties at The Baxter Inn include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the guest experience, including drink standards, customer interactions and ambience management
- Staff training and development
- Carrying out staff trials and inductions
- Ensuring the venue's sequence of service
- Managing guest feedback and complaints on shift
- Assisting the General Manager with operational requirements such as ordering, delivery days and stock takes
Skillset and Experience required
- Proven experience training and mentoring junior bartenders and barbacks
- Experience managing a busy and well organised bar, following a detailed sequence of service
- An advanced and comprehensive knowledge of every spirit category, beer and wine styles
- Attention to detail, surpassing expectations and authentic gestures of extra service and care.
The Baxter Inn is part of the larger Swillhouse family who owns and operates The Caterpillar Club, Le Foote, Alberto’s Lounge, Restaurant Hubert, and Shady Pines Saloon. This association gives you access to inter-venue work placements, training and development, career progression, and a pool of talented hospitality professionals to work closely with and guide you to success.
An encyclopaedic knowledge of whisky isn't essential, but a solid grounding on the subject certainly helps - The Baxter Inn hosts weekly whisky training as part of its development program. You will keep learning as you go.
We are offering a competitive salary ($80,000-$85,000 - based on experience, interviews and trial) plus excellent tips and plus superannuation. We also offer a flexible 4 day roster and work life balance.
