As the Chef at 7th Heaven Cafe, you will be a pivotal figure in the kitchen, collaborating closely with the head chef and management to elevate our culinary offerings. Your role is crucial in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, creativity, and operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Menu Development:
Work alongside the head chef and management to craft and refine the cafe’s menu.
Select premium ingredients and design innovative dishes while ensuring a diverse and appealing selection for our patrons.
Food Preparation:
Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes in line with cafe standards and customer expectations.
Guarantee that each dish served meets our stringent quality control criteria.
Kitchen Management:
Manage daily kitchen operations, including the supervision and training of new staff.
Organize workflows, maintain a clean and organized kitchen, order supplies, monitor inventory levels, and upkeep kitchen equipment.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular quality checks, taste tests, and address any customer feedback or complaints about food quality or presentation.
Training and Development:
Train new kitchen staff, ensuring they are well-versed in our cafe’s policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Compliance:
Ensure the kitchen adheres to all health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and other applicable laws.
Customer Service:
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and promptly address any customer inquiries or dietary requests.
Menu Costing and Budgeting:
Monitor and manage food costs, portion control, and wastage to maximize profitability without compromising on quality.
Creativity and Innovation:
Continuously seek innovative ideas and techniques to enhance the menu and cater to diverse customer preferences.
Flexibility:
Demonstrate adaptability by assisting with various tasks as needed, including inventory management, scheduling, and coordination of special events.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Cert IV in Commercial Cookery.
Minimum 2 years of proven experience in a professional kitchen, with a strong foundation in menu development and kitchen management.
Excellent culinary skills with an eye for detail in food preparation and presentation.
Strong leadership skills, capable of managing and motivating a team.
Adept at problem-solving and able to handle high-pressure situations.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and certification in food hygiene.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
