Hotel Kununurra is seeking energetic and proactive Cooks/Chefs to support our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis. You will be motivated, driven, embrace your career with passion, creativity, professionalism and commitment.
Our kitchen provides meals for our public bar and beer garden, in-house restaurant and hotel with 49 rooms. The restaurant would suit an a la carte chef and hosts 2 different menus and continental breakfast all year round. The kitchen demand is indicative of the seasonal nature of trade in the Kimberley, so flexibility to manage budgets during this time is highly essential.
Who we are looking for:
The successful applicant will be able to work as part of a team as well on their own and have previous experience in the hospitality industry. To be considered for this position you should possess the following attributes:
• Experience in working in all section of Kitchen including Hot Section, Cold Larder, Function Preparation, Breakfast and Bulk Catering
• Basic cooking and food preparation including breakfast, snacks and grills
• Cook and present meals in accordance with the recipe, seasoning food and to ensure consistency of product and cost
• Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
• Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
• Comply with the Food Safety Program
• Comply with company and local government policies where it relates to food and kitchen operations
• Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality. May plan menus and estimate food requirements
• Adhere to stock rotation to ensure freshness of product
• Comply with all reasonable Directives from the General Manager and Directors as required.
• Ability to work positively within a High-Pressure team environment to produce food as per the requirements for the Menus within the venue work
• Direct other staff in your section as required by the Head Chef/ Sous Chef
• Consult with the Head Chef/ Sous Chef on any Staff Issues
• Communicate with fellow team workers in passing on knowledge or directives from Head/ Sous Chef with regard to Kitchen Operations. May train other kitchen staff and apprentices
• Ensure All Incidents / Repairs are reported through KA Incident Reporting.
• Ensure that rostered times and attendance are recorded in line with company policy and procedures
• Ensure Portion Control is adhered to and wastage is kept to a minimum
• Adhere to company requirements in Purchasing Stock Control and Stocktaking
• Timeliness of Reporting
• Adhere to WH&S Compliance Regime where it relates to the Food Operation.
Availability:
On offer, we have three permanent, full-time roles. We are looking for candidates who are available to work a full roster, including weekends and public holidays
