Role Overview:
Join our dynamic team as an Advanced Metal Fabrication Technician/Programmer, responsible for implementing programming techniques and operating multi-axis metal fabrication systems. Your role will be pivotal in driving innovation and ensuring precision components meet our exacting standards, contributing to our manufacturing processes.
Key responsibilities:
Implementing programming techniques using proprietary Amada and Trumpf control languages (AP100, AMNC, TOPSolid) to operate multi-axis metal fabrication systems for complex 3D sheet metal forming and fabrication operations.
Adhering to ISO, ASTM and OEM specifications to validate and uphold stringent GD&T and surface finish quality standards across all fabricated components through advanced metrology techniques.
Maintaining comprehensive digital production records including machine parameters, tooling data, program revisions, and quality control metrics to enable manufacturing optimisation.
Continuously enhancing expertise in emerging computational metalforming and additive manufacturing to drive next-generation fabrication process innovation.
Implementing predictive maintenance regimes for preventative repair of Amada and Trumpf production systems.
Providing technical leadership and skills mentorship to cross-functional teams on SSAB, voestalpine, and Sandvik high-strength alloy material handling and fabrication best practices.
Developing optimised multi-axis toolpath simulations and machine code through proficiency in Amada and Trumpf CAD/CAM suites.
Conducting exhaustive real-time machine monitoring and computational diagnostics to troubleshoot faults, collisions, inefficiencies and quality issues to their root causes for resolution.
Contributing technical leadership in evaluating and piloting emerging factory technologies.
Requirements:
8+ years of programming Amada and Trumpf digitally controlled fabrication systems with expertise in machine control languages such as CAD/CAM software.
Proficiency in digital control programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for generating complex machine toolpaths and bending sequences.
Knowledge of ISO, ASTM and OEM standards governing material specifications, geometric dimensioning, and quality validation procedures for high-precision metal forming applications.
Strong understanding of metallurgy and material properties with the ability to select appropriate tooling and bending parameters for various sheet metal materials.
Proven ability to develop and optimise complex multi-axis toolpaths and machine code for challenging 3D bending and fabrication geometries involving high-strength alloys.
Extensive operational experience across the full suite of Amada and Trumpf digitally controlled equipment and automation cells and integrated production lines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex machinery issues efficiently.
