Our Company Tasmanian Berries is an innovative and ever-expanding business in Central, Northern Tasmania. The business has two farm sites, both located near Deloraine in Tasmania. Most of our berries are grown hydroponically, which means that they are grown in individual bags of coir (coconut peat). The plants are fed through a state-of-the-art irrigation system, which provides the plants with the specific nutrients each variety requires for maximum yield and quality. Role As the Irrigation Manager you will be directly responsible for delivering the correct water and nutrition to the plants via our irrigation systems. You will be accountable for all irrigation operations and infrastructure. Duties Responsible for daily irrigation operations and maintenance Project manage start to finish the design, ordering and installation of any new block irrigation infrastructure Work with internal and external Agronomist’s to ensure the correct nutrition is delivered to the plants at the at the desired time of the season Observe, record, and report back data at management meetings to achieve business and performance targets in collaboration with management team Explore and share ideas to improve the irrigation systems Use a hands-on approach to conduct regular inspections across the farm to ensure the irrigation system is running correctly and the needs of the plants are met Forecasting water and fertiliser usage and placing orders in advance Delegate tasks to, train, and develop irrigation technicians and assistants Ensure safety protocols are adhered to throughout work and conduct risk assessments as needed Provide expert advice, support, and organise training for irrigation staff Necessary Experience and Qualifications Tertiary education in field preferred or sufficient work experience specialising in irrigation Ability to work autonomously and within a team Possess initiative, drive, and take pride in your work Excellent communication skills are necessary as you will be required to communicate with colleagues from different cultures and backgrounds and an array of stakeholders Driver’s Licence What We Offer Full time secure employment with an excellent work culture Competitive salary package DOE Please note: We encourage any applicant with irrigation experience to apply as there may be a role available that is not the one advertised above.
