Receive orders and bookings and then plan, organize, and manage the work of subordinate staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements. In charge of the day-to-day operations of the transport department. Efficiently managing a team of drivers and vehicles. Responsible for dispatching, routing, and tracking delivery vehicles. Resolve issues surrounding product delays, customer and shipper complaints, and employee misconduct. Collaborate with other staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Ensuring company compliance with all transport policies, legislation, and procedures. Managing, monitoring, and developing a team of drivers and line managers. Involved in strategic development and strategy making. Serve as contact persons for all workers within assigned territories. Making sure that all transport fleet vehicles are properly maintained and serviced. Arranging for the induction and training of all new staff. Developing and nurturing customer relationships. Maintaining accurate business and administrative records. Organizing vehicle checks and identifying operational issues, potential problems, and opportunities. Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently. Appraising staff performance and taking disciplinary measures when required. Responsible for all OH&S investigations. Qualification & Experience A minimum of Bachelor level qualification in a business field Five or more years of experience in the provision of third-party transport Knowledge of road transport legislation, including Chain of Responsibility and Dangerous Goods transport across all Australian jurisdictions Proven leadership capabilities including the ability to engage staff at all levels effectively A proven track record in the identification and delivery of projects improving the cost-effectiveness of operations Strong analytical and financial skills with demonstrated attention to detail Can work under pressure and meet deadlines and ability to multitask.
