Controlling the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking appliances. Preparing and cooking meals. Adding seasonings during the cooking process. Portioning food, plating it, and adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes. Storing food in temperature-regulated facilities. Preparing dishes that cater to specific dietary needs. May be responsible for menu planning and estimating food supply needs. May also train kitchen staff and apprentices.
