About the organisation The Treaty Authority is an independent entity established to facilitate the creation of treaties between the State of Victoria and the First Peoples of Victoria. The Treaty Authority operates within the framework of Aboriginal Lore, Law and Culture and is led by a panel of five Aboriginal Members. The Treaty Authority work is adjacent to a wide range of stakeholders, including the First Peoples Assembly, Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and the State of Victoria. Its primary objectives are to promote reconciliation, mutual respect and tolerance, as well as to support the self-determination, empowerment, culture, and human rights of First Peoples.
