ECWA (Eastern Christian Welfare Australia Limited) sponsors refugee visa applicants for fast-tracked priority processing of their Humanitarian Program Visa application through the Sponsored Community Support Program. So far, ECWA has assisted over 4,000 refugee families migrate to Australia through the Humanitarian Program Visa. Currently there is a vacancy for a skilled Family Support Worker for full-time role.
Main Tasks but not limited to the following:
• Assess the needs of refugee families and plan, develop, and implement tailored educational, training, and support programs that address their unique challenges during the settlement process.
• Conduct interviews with refugee families to understand the nature and extent of the difficulties they face in migration, settlement, and adaptation to life in Australia.
• Monitor and report on the progress of refugee families, tracking their integration into the community and the success of the support programs provided.
• Refer families to relevant agencies and service providers that can offer additional assistance, such as mental health services, housing, healthcare, legal advice, and employment opportunities.
• Evaluate community needs and available resources, identifying gaps in services such as health, welfare, housing, employment, and education for refugee families and advocating for the development of new programs where necessary.
• Liaise with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies, and private businesses to address community issues affecting refugee families and raise awareness of the resources and services available to support them.
• Support families and provide education and assistance to children, individuals with disabilities, and vulnerable family members, ensuring they receive proper care and integration into the community.
• Assist refugee youth in solving social, emotional, and financial problems, offering guidance on building life skills and creating pathways to education and employment.
• Prepare submissions for funding and resources, developing reports and proposals to government bodies and other agencies to secure financial support for refugee-focused programs and initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria:
• AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma
• At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
• Full-time working rights in Australia
Salary: - $74,000 plus super
