Job Description/Specific Duties/Training: As a Communications Technician, your primary responsibilities will revolve around the following areas:
1. Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of analogue and digital repeater systems (Motorola P25 Systems / DMR).
2. Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of repeater builds.
3. Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of SCADA equipment.
4. Installation and bench testing of Duplexers or similar equipment.
5. Installation of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless equipment.
6. Conducting site surveys and field strength testing.
7. Installation and maintenance of Satellite equipment.
8. Carrying out ongoing maintenance and repairs of all radio sites, communication rooms, vehicles, and associated equipment used in day-to-day operations.
9. Implementing and designing base radio and handheld radio replacement programs.
10. Installing electronics and communication accessories for motor vehicles, including two-way radios, antennas, cables, satellite car kits, tracking devices, and assisting Arid Offroad workshop installations where required. Some experience in automotive electrical wiring is preferred, but not essential.
11. Performing routine maintenance procedures across all provided services.
12. Preparing and presenting quotes for solutions to custom radio system requirements.
13. Meeting service and installation deadlines when applicable.
14. Undertaking remote work as required.
15. Other duties as required.
Required Prerequisites:
• Cert 3 in Telecommunications Technology Or
• Diploma -Telecommunications Network Engineering
• First Aid or willing to obtain
• Working at Heights and or Working with Elevated Platforms.
Responsibilities

• Adopt a take-charge attitude to ensure projects are actively pursued
• Coordinate and conduct in shop and on-site installations, quality inspections and performance testing complete with all required documentation
• Perform Site Surveys and be able to coordinate and perform many surveys simultaneously
• Provision, commission, test, maintain and repair network elements/services, complete with all required documentation
• Conduct trouble analysis (i.e. testing, fault isolation and repair functions)
• Liaise with appropriate departments for the effective implementation of hardware, software, firmware, product change upgrades and commissioning of network elements/services
• Perform “On Call” duties and responsibilities as required and/or directed by the Operations Manager, or designate
• Candidates are required to work with: Spectrum Analyses, Watt Meters,
Working Hours: Your typical working hours will be as follows:
• Monday: 07:30 hours to 17:00 hours
• Tuesday to Friday: 08:00 hours to 17:00 hours
• Saturdays: Rostered 9:00am to 12:00pm
• Call-outs: As required
