We are involved in a range of agricultural enterprises including melons, pumpkin, broccoli, citrus, wine grapes and almonds, with operations spanning growing, packing, and marketing of produce. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Forklift Operator will support harvest operations by carrying out a series of jobs including bins’ receival, weighing, packing, transporting, and loading of produce into the cool room and trucks as directed.
About the role:
• Ensure trailers are loaded in a timely manner (No 1 priority)
• Stack bins in correct groups of 3
• Load cool room as directed by Packhouse Manager
• Stage loads as directed
• Ensure seedless cool room drains are clear and flowing
• Load bins on and off scales
• Stack up made bins
• Ensure pallets and cardboard ready for bin makers
• Daily Forklift checks completed. Inspecting and controlling equipment to identify wear and damage
• Ensure weights in bins are correct
• Ensure correct size seedless used when finalising weight
• Blow and wipe down bins and seedless
• Pallet cap finish goods
• Ensure all bin labels are on bins and label info is correct
• Ensure Pack Manager is entered correct
• Ensure truck is loaded as directed
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
• Evidence of work rights
• Current unencumbered Driver's License
• Forklift license
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude
• Team player who can work effectively with people from different backgrounds
• Awareness and ability to adhere to rules and procedures
• Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets, including weekends and public holidays
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good level of physical fitness, including ability to kneel, grasp, bend/twist, lift light to moderate loads (up to 10-15kg) and be able to work in temperature extremes and dust
