Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our team at Fork & Spoon. The ideal candidate will have a flair for creating delectable breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes, focusing on quality, flavor, and presentation. As our Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meals using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes with a focus on quality and presentation
Create innovative menu items that reflect the café’s commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients
Collaborate with management to design seasonal menus and specials
Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
Manage stock levels, order ingredients, and maintain inventory control
Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks to ensure efficient kitchen operations
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations
Monitor portion control, waste management, and food costs to ensure profitability
Provide input into the development of new dishes and improvements to existing ones
Assist in training and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring consistent food quality and presentation
Skills and Qualifications
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Diploma in Commercial Cookery.
Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Chef, preferably in a café or casual dining setting
Strong knowledge of food safety, kitchen hygiene, and compliance with health regulations
Expertise in preparing breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients
Creative flair and passion for developing new recipes and menu items
Excellent time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership qualities
Ability to manage stock, control food costs, and minimize wastage
Strong attention to detail, especially in food presentation and taste
