As a Carer Peer Worker, you will:
- Draw on your personal experiences to provide 1:1 peer support to carers, facilitate support groups, and offer secondary consultation
- Educate and support staff in understanding and engaging with carers from a perspective of lived experience, enhancing holistic, family-inclusive practices
- Utilize Intentional Peer Support principles to form empathetic, mutual relationships with carers and staff, fostering a culture of hope and resilience
- Participate in monthly peer supervision and reflective practice sessions to ensure alignment with recovery-oriented frameworks and continuous personal development

About the program
EACH is the Lead Agency of the Therapeutic Alliance (TA), a consortium of community based, not-for-profit organizations who provide mental health services across the North Coast of NSW through a multidisciplinary, person centred, hub-and-spoke model of care.
The alliance offers a range of services under the Primary Mental Health Program (PMHP), including Healthy Minds, the Mental Health Nursing Incentive Program, Youth Enhanced Services (YES), Suicide Prevention, Counselling Support, and Low Intensity Mental Health programs.
About you
You’re an empathetic and proactive individual who:
- Has served as a primary carer for someone with mental illness or substance dependence, offering a deep understanding of the carer recovery journey
- Excels in group facilitation, written and verbal communication, and IT proficiency
- Is dedicated to human rights, social justice, and trauma-informed care, with experience working in diverse communities being highly desirable
- Maintains professional boundaries, practices self-care, and adopts a positive, person-centred approach, believing in everyone’s potential for growth and success
- Holds or is working towards a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, Intentional Peer Support core training, or Single Session Family Consultation training for carer peer workers (highly desirable)
