Salary Range: $73,000 - $75,000 + Superannuation

The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and creative Chef to join our dynamic team at MG Kebab & Curry House. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes, overseeing kitchen operations, and ensuring that each plate meets our high standards of taste and presentation. This is an exciting opportunity for a Chef who is passionate about South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine and eager to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Menu Development: Assist in developing and updating the menu, introducing new dishes and seasonal specialties that align with our restaurant’s culinary style and customer preferences.
2. Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes, including kebabs, curries, and other specialties, ensuring consistency in flavor, presentation, and portion control.
3. Kitchen Operations: Oversee the daily kitchen operations, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
4. Team Leadership: Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment while maintaining high standards of food production.
5. Quality Control: Maintain strict quality control over food preparation, presentation, and service, ensuring all dishes meet the restaurant’s high standards before they reach the customer.
6. Cost Management: Monitor food costs, manage portion sizes, and minimize waste to ensure profitability while maintaining food quality.
7. Customer Service: Work closely with the front-of-house staff to ensure customer satisfaction with food quality and presentation. Adapt menu items based on customer feedback and dietary requirements.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
2. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as a Chef in a fast-paced restaurant environment, preferably with experience in South Asian or Middle Eastern cuisine.
3. Skills: Proficiency in a variety of cooking techniques, strong knowledge of spices and ingredients used in Indian and Middle Eastern cooking, and the ability to manage a busy kitchen efficiently.
4. Work Rights: Must have full working rights in Australia.
5. Attributes: Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering high-quality food in a dynamic kitchen environment.
