The Client
Prestige Auto Mechanic AU located in Wendouree in VIC is now looking to hire a motivated individual to join their successful team as a Light Vehicle Mechanic.



The Role
The annual salary is set between $73,000 to $75,000, depending on experience plus superannuation.



The Responsibilities
Some tasks may include
• Conduct light vehicle inspections to identify potential mechanical and electrical problems in the engine and other vehicle parts.
• Repair mechanical and electrical faults in key systems such as the engine, gearbox, or steering mechanism for light vehicles.
• Accurately assess diagnostic indicators, including engine light signals, to determine the root cause of issues and resolve them effectively.
• Perform routine vehicle services, including oil changes, tyre replacements, and other necessary maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain high safety standards during the dismantling and reassembly processes.
• Evaluate the engine’s performance during test drives, assessing acceleration, idling, and overall smoothness of operation.
• Compile comprehensive inspection reports and repair plans for submission to relevant authorities.
• Regularly inspect and maintain shop equipment and tools, ensuring they meet operational standards and preventing malfunctions that could affect repair quality or safety.
• Assist in evaluating and road-testing customers’ vehicles to confirm repairs are effective.
• Provide excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of professionalism and workmanship.
• Communicate effectively with customers, explaining necessary repairs and maintenance to ensure they understand their vehicle’s needs.



The Requirements:
• Certificate IV in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent certification.
• A minimum of two years’ experience as a qualified automotive mechanic.
• A minimum of two years’ experience gained in a commercial workshop setting
• Must have at least 2 years’ experience working with Intercontinental, European and Asian car makes
• Physically fit to handle the removal and refitting of major vehicle components using appropriate equipment.
• Ability to work independently with strong proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle roadworthiness standards and requirements.
• Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations within the automotive industry.
• Valid Australian driver’s licence, with the capability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-centric approach.


• Experience working with mechanical systems
• Must know how to operate diagnostic equipment
• Good with hand and power tools.
• Capacity to solve issues/problem and find suitable resolutions
• Excellent work ethic and ability to strive for goals
• Hold a current driver's license and able to drive manual car.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Able to pass a drug and alcohol test
• Verifiable work references
