Detour Refrigerated Logistics is looking for a full-time Motor Mechanic to join their team in Silvan, Victoria. The Motor Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and other motorised equipment. The Motor Mechanic will collaborate closely with other team members to ensure that vehicles are serviced and repaired to the highest standards, thereby contributing to overall customer satisfaction and the operational efficiency of the workshop.
The annual salary for the role is $ 73,150
Responsibilities include:
• Repair and replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension systems, and other mechanical parts.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, tyre rotations, and other preventative maintenance tasks.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Stay informed about the latest automotive technologies, tools, and repair techniques.
• Utilise computerized diagnostic equipment and tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of repairs.
• Follow manufacturer specifications and guidelines when carrying out repairs and servicing.
• Communicate clearly with customers to explain vehicle issues, repair options, and estimated costs.
• Provide clear and accurate estimates for repair and maintenance work.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality workmanship and timely service.
• Comply with workplace health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed, including parts used, services provided, and customer information.
• Dispose of hazardous materials, such as oil and chemicals, in line with environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with other mechanics, apprentices, and service advisors to ensure the efficient operation of the workshop.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics and apprentices as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and care for tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Report any damaged or malfunctioning tools and equipment to the Workshop Manager.
Qualifications:
• Has a Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.
• A valid driver’s licence.
• Proven experience as a Motor Mechanic with a solid background in vehicle diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
• Experience working with various vehicle makes and models, including petrol and diesel engines.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
