We are looking for a Chef to join our team and prepare delicious meals for our customers.
Pay: $70,000 to $80,000
Reports to
The Chef will report directly to the General Manager.
Hours: 38
Wednesday: 2.30pm to 10.00pm
Thursday: 2.30pm to 10.00pm
Friday: 2.30pm to 10.00pm
Saturday: 2.00pm to 10.00pm
Sunday: 2.30pm to 10.00pm
Job brief
Chef responsibilities include studying recipes, setting up menus and preparing high-quality dishes. You should be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner. Also, you should be familiar and certified for sanitation and OHS regulations.
Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook and serve food in accordance with menus ensuring a high level of quality and presentation is achieved at all times according to agreed standards
• Create and develop menu concepts that strengthens our business ambitions
• Order and oversee the appropriate receiving and storage of food
• Oversee the appropriate rotation of stores
• Manage the kitchen staff and report any issues to the General Manager.
• Research and keep records of recipes for menu items
• Work out and record raw food costs of new menu items and price accordingly to meet agreed food cost targets
• Control wastage
• Maintaining correct Health and Safety procedures and practises
• Foster sound relationships with front of house staff and kitchen staff
• Maintain kitchen equipment and plant in good condition
• Attendance at all department meetings
• Manage and oversee all logistics for catering for functions
• Any other duties as required by the General Manager
Requirements and skills
• Proven work experience as a Chef with a minimum of 7 years experience
• Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment
• Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques
• Leadership as well as interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks in a high pressure environment.
• Certification as Food Safety Supervisor
• Excellent time management abilities
• Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
• Familiarity with sanitation regulations and requirements
• Culinary school diploma plus appropriate certificates.
• Experience in European cuisine
• The ability to instigate and maintain procedural systems.
