About the Business
Baker D'North is a European-style bakery, established in 2020 by Dimitri Pittion, a graduate of the National Institute of Boulangerie Patisserie in France. Our bakery prides itself on crafting high-quality, artisan baked goods using traditional European techniques, long fermentation processes, and locally sourced ingredients. Our specialty includes handmade pastries, desserts, sourdough loaves, and baguettes that reflect rich complexity in taste and texture, elevating the quality of baked products without compromise.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing the Pastry Section: Operate and manage the pastry section of the kitchen, ensuring a successful and efficient working environment.
Preparation: Prepare ingredients and operate baking and other kitchen equipment for a variety of baked goods.
Pastry Creation: Create a variety of pastries, desserts, baked goods, and bread by following traditional methods and recipes.
Recipe Development: Develop new recipes for seasonal menus to keep offerings fresh and exciting.
Decorating Pastries: Decorate pastries and desserts to ensure they are visually appealing and meet our standards for beautiful presentation.
Customer Interaction: Meet with customers to discuss custom-made desserts and pastries for special occasions, tailoring recipes to their needs.
Health & Safety: Ensure the pastry section adheres to all health and safety regulations.
Staff Training & Supervision: Supervise and train staff members in pastry techniques and kitchen operations, as required.
Requirements:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Certificate IV in Patisserie (or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years experience in a medium-sized commercial kitchen, creating pastries, desserts, baked goods and bread from scratch using traditional methods.
Knowledge of traditional European pastry techniques.
Attention to detail and creativity in pastry presentation.
Strong supervisory and management skills.
Experience in recipe development and seasonal menu planning.
Ability to work with customers to create custom orders.
Familiarity with baking equipment and safety/health regulations.
