About the role
The role of the Cook will be to prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes whilst maintaining a clean and safe work area and to control food usage to minimize waste.
Your day to day
In this role, you will prepare and cook orders for daily operations while maintaining a clean and organised work area, including kitchens and storage spaces. You'll also assist in managing inventory by reporting low stock to your supervisor and helping with receiving items as needed. Promoting teamwork and quality service is essential, as you will communicate and coordinate with various departments, and you may occasionally interact directly with guests while ensuring that sanitation and cleanliness standards meet health and safety regulations.
What we need from you
The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, making it easy for guests to approach you with concerns or compliments, ensuring a positive experience for all. Your problem-solving abilities will turn challenges into opportunities, allowing every guest to leave with great memories. Fluency in the local language is essential, and additional language skills are a plus, while strong reading and writing abilities are important for following instructions and preparing recipes. The role requires physical fitness, as you will be on your feet for most of the day and need to bend and kneel frequently. A qualification in commercial cookery or equivalent relevant experience is also necessary for success in this position.
Intended commencement date for this position would be the 9th of December 2024, with the role being located on Hayman Island, Queensland.
Appropriate Australian working rights are required for this role.
What we offer
The base hourly rate for this position is $25.87 under the Hayman Island Enterprise Agreement, working a minimum of 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster with shifts spanning from early in the morning until later at night.
