The Communications Officer for the Digital Transformation Program is a pivotal role designed to support the Program Director and Change Manager in executing effective communication strategies. The Communications Officer will play a crucial role in crafting and delivering compelling messages, managing communication channels, and fostering a positive communication culture throughout the program.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide consultancy to the Program Director and various areas of Council to ensure that strategic communication principles and plans are applied.
- Provide specialist writing and editing for a range of communications materials and channels that are tailored for various external and internal audiences and stakeholders.
- Champion the needs of the program, impacted staff to ensure effective and tailored communications and engagement for these groups, across Council Departments.
- Monitor and improve the performance of communication activities against strategic priorities and Transformation objectives, in line with best practice tools and techniques.
- Identify proactive communications opportunities that provide tailored and targeted information for internal staff impacted by the changes from the digital program.
- Contribute to the development of high-level narratives, ensuring strong and consistent key messaging across all communications activities.
- Collaborate with the Change Manager to develop and implement comprehensive communication plans for the program. Align communication strategies with change management objectives to ensure a synchronized approach.
- Create clear, concise, and compelling messages related to the program. Ensure messaging is aligned with organizational goals, project objectives, and the overall change narrative. Tailor messages for different audiences.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive demonstrated experience in communications, public relations or marketing or a similar field.
- Ability to plan, research, develop, implement, and evaluate communications strategies.
- Demonstrated significant experience in the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of integrated communications strategies.
- Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures, both within and external to the organisation, to achieve the objectives of this position.
- Specialist written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write in a clear, concise, and understandable manner as appropriate for multiple formats including online and digital communication and social media.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines to a high standard of accuracy and consistency.
- A strong understanding of local, state, and federal government and experience working in a political environment.
- A current driver’s license.
