Advanced Trainee (Registrar) - Emergency Medicine (Clinical Year 2025) Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs and four procedure rooms and a state of the art education and interactive SIM centre. The Northern Beaches Hospital Emergency Department is led by highly motivated FACEMs with specialist interests that include; ultrasound, toxicology, education, trauma, sports medicine, and prehospital and retrieval medicine. Resuscitation focused training program including advanced airway management, critical care interventions including life and limb-saving surgical procedures, focused cardiac ultrasound and paediatric resuscitation Your Role The Registrar - Emergency Medicine works under direction and supervision to perform the initial assessment of the patient in the Emergency Department and co-ordinate and facilitate diagnosis, management and early appropriate patient management. The trainee will manage a wide range of clinical presentations in adults, children and neonates and provide medical care, consistent with level of experience to patients presenting to the Emergency Department under the supervision of more senior medical staff. This includes communicating relevant information to the appropriate medical practitioner or AMO and other team members. Supervision after hours is by an Emergency Physician until 12 midnight, and by the Emergency Medicine Senior/Registrar between 12 midnight and 0800, with an Emergency Physician on call. Northern Beaches Hospital has ACEM accreditation for 18 months Emergency Medicine training. This position is ED based and rotations in Intensive Care. Anaesthetics, Paediatrics and Medical specialties may be considered dependent on service need and available positions. For more information regarding this role to read the position description. Your Capabilities To be successful in this role you will meet the following Selection Criteria:
Hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and be registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Demonstrated a minimum four years post graduate clinical practice with at least two years of accredited ACEM training in Emergency Medicine.
Have completed ACEM requirements required to be registered as an Advanced Trainee in Emergency Medicine.
Demonstrated clinical competency and an ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management and evidence of sound working knowledge of legal and ethical obligations governing medical practice.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting as part of a multidisciplinary team.
A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary relevant to your clinical experience ranging from $111,606-$140,051 per annum.
