We stand alongside stroke survivors and their families, healthcare professionals and researchers. We build community awareness and foster new thinking. We support survivors on their journey to live the best possible life after stroke.
Stroke is one of Australias biggest killers and a leading cause of disability, yet it can be prevented, and it can be treated. It is estimated more than 27,000 Australians will experience stroke for the first time in their lives this year, which equates to one stroke experienced every 19 minutes. There are more than 445,000 survivors of stroke living in our community. Stroke attacks the brain, the human control centre, changing lives in an instant. It can impact anyone at any time.
