Job Overview:
Direct Care Assistance, a provider of health and disability care services, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Aged and Disability Carer to provide high-quality care and support to elderly and disabled clients. The Aged and Disability Carer will assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a care team.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences of the client.
Medication Assistance: Ensure clients take prescribed medications on time and assist with medication management as per care plan.
Companionship and Social Support: Provide emotional support, conversation, and encourage clients to engage in social and recreational activities.
Mobility Assistance: Support clients in moving safely, including using mobility aids and transferring between bed, chair, or wheelchair.
Household Tasks: Assist clients with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying living areas.
Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in the client's health, behavior, or well-being to supervisors or health professionals.
Transportation: Accompany clients to medical appointments, social activities, or other outings, ensuring their safety during transport.
Care Plan Implementation: Follow individualized care plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals or case managers.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily activity logs, incident reports, and progress notes.
Key Skills and Attributes:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate II in Community Services, Aged Care, or Disability Care (or equivalent).
At least 1 year of experience working in a similar role, providing care to elderly or disabled clients.
A caring attitude towards individuals with disabilities or the elderly.
Ability to effectively communicate with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks within specified timeframes.
Able to identify issues related to the client's care and suggest appropriate solutions.
Willingness to work as part of a team and cooperate with other carers and healthcare professionals.
Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks such as lifting and assisting clients with mobility.
