Shuk offers a menu characterised primarily by Mediterranean / Australian flavour mixed with other international cuisines. We now seek a full-time (38hr/wk) Pastrycook who will be responsible for the following duties on a daily basis at our location based in Meeks Rd, Marrickville, NSW 2204:
• Responsible for preparing and baking varieties of cakes, cookies, pastries, rolls, puddings, desserts according to recipes;
• Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuit;
• Kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding and shaping dough and pastry
• Ensuring the quality of all required materials and weighing ingredients;
• Communicating with Manager and chefs in introducing weekly specials of individual pastries and sweets; for example apple slice;
• Finalizing, glazed and decorated baked goods
• Maintaining equipment and keep clean standards to ensure compliance with OH&S regulations at all times including before and after production;
• Preparing and cooking ingredients for pie fillings, quiches, and other savouries as required;
• Adjusting drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperatures and to set time cycle for baking products
• Ensure all cooking and baking equipment are emptied and cleaned at all times
A base salary of $73,150 - $80,000 excluding superannuation is on offer for this role.
Required skills and attributes:
• A level of skill commensurate with an AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV and two years of relevant work experience or at least three years of relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification
• Ability to instruct and demonstrate baking techniques to others.
• A passion for food and quality produce
• Excellent attention to detail
• Knowledge of gourmet breads, and Israeli cuisine is desirable.
