The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Data Specialist to join the Data Centre and Geophysics Team. The Senior Data Specialist will assist in collecting, processing and delivering geodata and digital products to our clients, such as survey information, bathymetry survey data and geophysical data.
As a data driven company, Fugro collects, collates, synthesize, and presents data in digital, interactive and charted formats. We acquire hydrographic, bathymetric, metocean, geophysical and geotechnical data using remotely operated vehicles (ROV), unmanned surface vessels (USV), dedicated survey vessels and vessels of opportunity. All acquired data requires assessment and processing by the Data Centre before being analysed by other industry experts.
Fugro Data Scientists are not made from a single mould. They encapsulate all types of professional abilities, including data science, data analytics, geomatics, surveying, cartography, engineering, multibeam processing and geophysics.
Using industry and Fugro developed software, the responsibilities of the Data Specialist include:
? Work with Project Teams to collect, record, evaluate and present high quality datasets as per project requirements
? Prepare, process and revise various datasets, including:
? Survey sensor positions
? Multibeam datasets
? Single beam datasets
? Backscatter datasets
? Geophysical Datasets
o Application of GIS processing and presentation of data
o Adherence to quality protocols
o The maintenance of digital databases and electronic files
o Generation of figures and charts
? Actively keep up to date with latest developments in applicable software
About You
Senior Data Specialist have a passion for data, so anyone interested in computers, computer sciences and data processing will have a distinct advantage. Prior experience in the marine industry or surveying is desired, but not essential.
Your success in securing this role will require:
? Recognised qualifications in Spatial Sciences, Computer Sciences, Surveying, Cartography, Geomatics, GIS, Applied Engineering, Engineering or related fields
? Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
? Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making and prioritising skills
? Ability to manage large volumes of information, whilst committed to delivering high quality results
? Proactively contribute to a collaborative teamwork environment
