Mixed Crop Farming Coordinator
Lakeshore Pty Ltd, is looking for a motivated person with the appropriate skills and education to help us oversee our current Horticultural operation. The successful applicant will help us oversee our large Avocado Orchards as well as help coordinate our cotton production, Mango Operation and Grape Diversification.
The successful applicant must also coordinate the production of mangoes with two different varieties. Kensington pride which is the normal high quality Mango variety. The second is a new variety we have been developing. It is ready for commercial production and will require coordination by the applicant of nursery production, plantings, and grafting in our 10,000 plant nursery facility.
We are in the process of diversifying into table grapes. We are currently undergoing variety selection and have organised to install and begin planting in the coming few months. The successful applicant will coordinate the production of these different table grape varieties to access which will be taken to major production. The applicant will need to be qualified to access, plant health, production yields, disease resistance and access which is most wanted by consumer markets and in turn for best monetary return.
These plant variety assessments will include organising the best and most cost effective ways to pack, grade, collect and store the finished grape product as well as coordinate the sales and marketing of the produce through the registered agents for the different varieties.
Records will need to be designed and kept, to monitor and explore the most efficient and cost effective farming practices as well as oversee the erection of different forms of trellising for evaluation.
Skills in budgeting and cost analyses are a must, as well as being able to plan and budget for production expansion. You must be comfortable training, selecting, working with and supervising farm staff and contractors.
Occasional assistance will also be required in helping to plan and control the production of avocado trees to expand our current orchards. Skills in grafting and planting of root stock seed would be beneficial.
Help will also be required supervising staff throughout our Avocado plantations when tasks for the production and expansion of grapes are not needed.
To perform this role, you must have a minimum of 5 years experience and have a Diploma qualification at minimum. Salary will be in the range of $75,000 - $80,000 which will be determined according to the applicants experience or similar.
