To increase our workshop output and continue to grow, Victorian Trailers Pty Ltd requires a number of experienced metal fabricators / welders for Monday to Friday role (minimum 38 hours per week) with overtime and Saturday shifts available. This position suits a mechanically-minded person that comes up with on the spot solutions to ensure the safe and effective running of the business.
Your main responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Understanding shop drawings and job specification to produce desired fabrication
- Material selection and preparation as per the job requirement
- Cutting metal sections using hand tools, power tools, hydraulic shearing machine and gas cutting
- Use hand tools and measuring instruments to align and join parts
- Fabrication of material as required ensuring that the highest standards in finish and tolerances, in accordance with information supplied, are achieved using sound trade methods
- Joining metal section using different welding techniques, riveting and bolting
- Operate welding equipment including power tools and pneumatic tools
- Cleaning the finish product by chipping hammer and wire brush and remove any sharp edges by filing and grinding
- Visual examination of welding joints to meet clients’ specific requirements as well as industry standards
- Dimensional measurement of finished products to verify conformance to specifications
- Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
Essential:
- Welding qualification (Certificate of Welding or equivalent)
- MUST demonstrate welding knowledge and experience (2 years and more)
- Attention to details
- Aim for fabrication precision
- Thorough understanding and compliance with OH&S in the work place
- MUST be available for an immediate start
- Physical fitness for manual work
- Great work ethic
In return we offer a full-time package of $65,000 - 75,000, depending on experience.
