Design Engineer
A permanent full-time Design Engineering role in Melbourne, for an industrial/automotive manufacturing business.
Your new company
My client, a prominent industry leader in South East Melbourne, boasts nearly 60 years of expertise in the manufacturing, design, and engineering of automotive components. They are a medium-sized team on a mission to find a motivated Design Engineer. This role is crucial in ensuring every customer receives exceptional results that best match precise customer specifications.
Your new role
As a Design Engineer, you will be integral to the development and refinement of specialised metal products. Your role will involve conceptualising and creating detailed designs, ensuring they meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. You will collaborate closely with the Director and Works Manager to align your designs with the company's strategic goals and production capabilities. Liaise with Director and Works Manager on all design products.
Design and draw products in 3D CAD software, such as - SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD etc
Ensure design integrity in 3D CAD software
Liaise with suppliers where appropriate
Follow projects through manufacturing to improve procedures and design
Ensure quality procedures and safety requirements are followed
Other duties as required relevant to the job description
What you'll need to succeed
Computer literacy with proficiency in 3D CAD software, SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc
An engineering qualification (Bachelor's degree, minimum)
Extensive knowledge in design
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in complex drawings
Effective communication skills, - as you will be liaising with other staff and suppliers
The ability to work 5 days on site
Creative thinking and attention to detail
A keen interest in the outdoors is advantageous but not essential
