• The registered nurse provides compassionate and high-quality healthcare services to elderly individuals within various aged and health care settings.
• The registered nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for the elderly residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
• The registered nurse takes a leadership role in the coordination of nursing and healthcare within and across different care contexts to facilitate optimal health outcomes. This includes appropriate referral to, and consultation with, other relevant health professionals, service providers, and community and support services.
• The registered nurse practices independently and interdependently, assuming accountability and responsibility for their own actions and delegation of care to enrolled nurses and health care workers.
• The registered nurse will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote a safe and comfortable environment for residents, fostering their independence and dignity.

• As per NMBA Registered Nurse Standards of Practice, your responsibilities will cover:
• Standard 1: Thinks critically and analyses nursing practice: Registered Nurses use a variety of thinking strategies and the best available evidence in making decisions and providing safe, quality nursing practice within person-centred and evidence-based frameworks.

• Standard 2: Engages in therapeutic and professional relationships: The Registered Nurse practice is based on purposefully engaging in effective therapeutic and professional relationships. This includes collegial generosity in the context of mutual trust and respect in professional relationships.

• Standard 3: Maintains the capability for practice: Registered Nurses, as regulated health professionals, are responsible and accountable for ensuring they are safe, and have the capability for practice. This includes ongoing self-management and responding when there is concern about other health professionals’ capability for practice. Registered Nurses are responsible for their professional development and contribute to the development of others. They are also responsible for providing information and education to enable people to make decisions and take action in relation to their health.

• Standard 4: Comprehensively conducts assessments: Registered Nurses accurately conduct comprehensive and systematic assessments. They analyse information and data and communicate outcomes as the basis for practice.

• Standard 5: Develops a plan for nursing practice: Registered Nurses are responsible for the planning and communication of nursing practice. Agreed plans are developed in partnership. They are based on the RNs appraisal of comprehensive, relevant information, and evidence that is documented and communicated.

• Standard 6: Provides safe, appropriate and responsive quality nursing practice: Registered Nurses provide and may delegate, quality and ethical goal-directed actions. These are based on comprehensive and systematic assessment, and the best available evidence to achieve planned and agreed outcomes

• Standard 7: Evaluates outcomes to inform nursing practice: Registered Nurses take responsibility for the evaluation of practice based on agreed priorities, goals, plans and outcomes and revises practice accordingly.

DESCRIPTION
Clinical Care:
• Conduct comprehensive health assessments for elderly residents, taking into consideration their unique medical histories and individual needs.
• Develop and implement care plans based on the assessed needs, collaborating with other healthcare professionals and caregivers.
• Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
• Conduct regular wound assessments and provide specialized wound care as needed.
• Monitor and manage chronic conditions prevalent in the elderly population, such as diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory disorders.
• Implement pain management strategies tailored to individual residents' needs.
Psychosocial Support:
• Recognize and address the psychological and emotional needs of elderly residents, fostering a supportive and empathetic environment.
• Collaborate with the facility's recreational and mental health support teams to organize activities that promote social engagement and mental well-being.
Palliative and End-of-Life Care:
• Deliver compassionate palliative care when necessary, focusing on managing symptoms and enhancing the quality of life for residents nearing the end of life.
• Collaborate with the palliative care team and facilitate open discussions with residents and their families about end-of-life preferences.
Dementia Care:
• Specialize in dementia care strategies, adapting care plans to meet the unique needs of residents with cognitive impairments.
• Implement person-centred approaches to enhance the quality of life for residents with dementia, promoting dignity, and maintaining a safe environment.
Fall Prevention and Mobility:
• Assess residents' mobility and implement strategies to prevent falls, including exercise programs and environmental modifications.
• Work with physiotherapists to develop individualized plans for improving and maintaining residents' mobility.

CANDIDATE’S PROFILE
• Relevant qualifications and registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (or ability to obtain)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience or more as a nurse
• A genuine interest and passion for nursing
• A passion for client care and a high standard of customer-service
• National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months
• NDIS screening check
• Working-With-Children check
• Proof of immunisation against infectious diseases
• English communication abilities (meet the minimum English requirement set out by NMBA)
• Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability

JOB OFFER
Salary: Starting at AUD87,780 per annum (excluding Super)
Locations available: NSW, ACT, VIC, SA, WA and QLD.
