Longroad Dairy Pty Ltd General Farm Hand required to assist the Farm Manager and team with the day to day running of the 600 cow dairy farm. We are looking for someone honest, open, loyal, reliable, with the ability to take direction, be equally comfortable to work as part of a team or alone. A good problem solver with milking experience (40 unit rotary), with the skills and knowledge to identify sick animals and competently be able to drive a tractor and feed out is a must. Benefits Live in a stunning part of Victoria, close to beaches, 40kms from Warrnambool Work as part of a supportive and friendly team Small two bedroom cottage will soon be available for rent on farm 10 day fortnight working every other weekend Task & Responsibilities General tasks are as follows but not limited to:- Operate milking plant and equipment; Identify and report equipment not operating normally; Work co-operatively as part of a team; Read and record instrument information i.e. Milk vat temperatures and cow numbers; and Understands the principles of safe working. Monitor the health of the animals, understanding mastitis control and be comfortable give treatments (training provided) Drive tractors and maintain machinery, Solve problems and make decisions within given guidelines; Know general scientific terminology and assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, fertiliser mix etc.; Operate standard measuring equipment; Operate computerised systems using menu options; Contribute to the team in a specific role, providing input and assisting other team members; and Work without supervision but also be able to take direction from others when required Qualification & Experience Required skills, qualifications and experience: At least an AQF certificate II or III (or equivalent); or At least two (2) years of recent and relevant work experience A short period of on-the-job training may be given in addition to or instead of the formal qualification.
