As part of the Queensland Department of Education, the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) improves work health and safety in Queensland and helps to reduce the risk of workers being killed or injured on the job, as well as developing and enforcing standards for electrical safety in Queensland, regulating workers? compensation, and supporting improved productivity and fairness in Queensland workplaces. The Engineering Services unit is an integral part of the Specialised Health and Safety Services directorate, and consists of engineers with expertise in construction, mechanical, civil, electrical and electronic systems engineering specialising in the provision of technical advice, training and auditing of high-risk plant design applications.
