The Client

DC Plus Engineering is an Australian owned and operated machine manufacturer offering the latest production systems for the metal building and roll forming industries, constantly developing quality and innovative solutions.

They are now seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join their team in Crestmead in QLD.

The Role

The position is for an annual salary of $74,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.





The Responsibilities

Some tasks may include

Analyse blueprints and production plans to understand the precise dimensions and tolerances required for tools and components

Use gauges, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to mark materials for machining processes

Utilize lathes, milling machines, and grinders to shape metal stock and other materials for toolmaking

Construct and assemble jigs, fixtures, and dies for production machinery, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications

Design and manufacture specialized tools to improve production processes in metal forming and building systems

Use micrometres, dial indicators, and other measuring devices to check the accuracy of manufactured parts and assemblies

Test and repair worn or broken tools, dies, and fixtures to ensure proper operation and fit for production equipment

Coat finished patterns and tools with protective finishes to prevent corrosion and ensure longevity

Ensure all fabricated parts meet the fine tolerances required by DC Plus Engineering’s high precision standards

Create and pour molds for casting, including working with fiberglass and plastic resins to build accurate patterns

Diagnose and fix issues with production equipment, modifying tools and components as needed

Work closely with engineers to refine and improve tool designs, ensuring functionality and efficiency in production

Perform final inspections on tools, dies, and fixtures to guarantee quality standards are met before implementation in production

Track and organize tooling, ensuring proper storage, upkeep, and availability of tools for production needs



The Requirements:

Relevant trade qualifications in toolmaking

Minimum of 4 years of experience in toolmaking, including manufacturing and repairing tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures

Minimum of 4 years proficiency in operating CNC and manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses

Minimum of 4 years expertise in using precision measuring instruments like micrometres, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges for accurate part inspection (3+ years)

Minimum of 4 years experience in manual shaping and machining metal stock, with various metals and alloys

Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and CAD designs

Ability to work in a team environment and independently when required
