Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities of this role are to assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role supports the CEO directly as well as our external accounting firm, performing routine accounting tasks such as financial reporting, reconciliations and financial data entry.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
Data Entry: Input financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets with accuracy.
Expense Reporting: Review and process expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Invoicing: Assist in preparing and issuing invoices to clients, as well as tracking and managing accounts receivable.
Payroll Tax: Prepare and lodge the payroll tax on monthly basis.
Assist with Financial Reports: Help prepare financial statements, reports, and summaries for internal use and external audits.
Audit Support: Provide support during audits by gathering necessary documentation and information.
Compliance: Monitor and maintain tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current tax laws.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to our external accounting as needed.
Qualifications;
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: At least 2 years experience in accounting or a related field is preferred.
Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Personal Attributes:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Office setting; may include occasional extended hours during busy periods.
Physical Demands: Office work that involves reasonable periods of sitting and working on a computer.
