  • $81,672.54 per annum (pro rata) plus Superannuation 
  • 2 days in the office - preferably Monday & Wednesday

The OHS Officer supports the OHS Team with a variety of duties that assist the implementation of Councils OHS Management System. The role involves generalist health and safety tasks, with key areas of focus including: Emergency Preparedness, OHS data analysis and reporting and Employee Health Monitoring.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support OHS Advisors and OHS Business Partner in the implementation of Councils Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) and OHS Strategy.
  • Advise and distribute Occupational Health and Safety information to departments in order to support the effective implementation of the Councils Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
  • Assist with development and maintenance of Hume’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System, including the management of online information resources.
  • Coordinate the planning, testing, and training related to emergency preparedness.
  • Support stakeholders with the planning and scheduling of safety inspections and training.
  • Support the OHS team with Occupational Health and Safety performance reporting, including the analysis and reporting of incident and hazard data.
  • Review data within the incident and hazard database, including the management of corrective actions, to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
  • Plan and schedule health monitoring programs, encompassing but not limited to:
    • Audiometric testing; and
    • Skin checks
  • Assist OHS team members with incident response activities.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated experience working in Occupational Health and Safety role in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Emergency management experience desired.
  • Understanding of contemporary safety management systems and work health and safety compliance requirements.
  • Genuine appreciation and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety within a large local government which provides a broad range of services to our community.
  • A current and valid driver’s licence.
  • Strong customer service focus with proven capability to deliver high quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems with minimal supervision.
