The role:
As part of a multidisciplinary mental health service delivering high quality mental health care and, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Psychiatrist:
Provides a comprehensive general inpatient and community psychiatric service within the allocated service/site/facility.
Acts as a consultant to mental health professionals and health service providers, including general practitioners and other agencies, with regard to the assessment and management of individuals with mental health disorders.
Undertakes supervisory responsibilities with Psychiatric Registrars and other medical staff as required/appropriate.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $210,000 - $301,349 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 -$301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Provision of a motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum
Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees
Allowance in lieu of participating in private practice scheme 35% of base salary (if applicable)
Other allowances as applicable
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Recognition as a Psychiatrist by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), holding RANZCP Fellowship or equivalent
Current Driver’s Licence
Staff employed against this SoD as a Visiting Medical Specialist will be employed in accordance with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement and remunerated accordingly
