ABOUT US
Periscope Marine, located in Northern NSW, specialises in overall project naval architecture of new vessel construction and existing vessel refit. We handle projects from start to finish - from concept through handover comprising monohulls and multihulls, displacement and high speed, luxury and commercial. Our clients know to look no further than Periscope Marine for the design and construction of luxury and commercial vessels.
ABOUT YOU
You are a motivated and experienced Naval Architect with Shipyard experience who is passionate about marine vessel design.
You will be required to design and oversee the construction and repair of marine craft and floating structures.
Duties for the role will include:
• Consulting with client and upper management to determine type, style and size of planned marine craft
• providing information regarding designs, materials and estimated building times and estimated costs
• writing specifications and contract documents
• preparing project documentation, including structural calculations, structural drafting, engineering and systems calculations and schematics, statutory plans, sketches and scale drawings
• Developing high quality details for luxury yacht construction
• Liasing with yacht designers to engineer their design intent
• Advising regarding barge stability and general engineering design including ramps and vessel mods for lifting appliances
• Preparing tender bid packages and calling tenders on behalf of clients
• consulting with other professionals and clients about external area designs, costs and construction
• preparing stability reports, structural reports, feasibilities studies for conversions, gap analysis and exemption submissions for marine projects
• inspecting work in progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and Class and Statutory regulations

You must have the following requirements:-
• relevant Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent or higher) AND at least 2 years relevant high level work experience
• Solid project based experience with client facing skills, construction exposure preferred
• Must have Yacht Design experience
• Must have good understanding of Class regs, particularly LR SSC
• Must have good understanding of Stat regs, particular NSCV, MARPOL & Red Ensign Yacht Code
• Experience with Steel, Aluminum and Composite structures
• Software experience with Autocad, RHINO modelling, Maxsurf, and Multiframe preferred
