Fibre Optics NQ are seeking an experienced and qualified Telecommunications (Cabling) Technician to join our small, dynamic team dedicated to, and respected for delivering quality data cabling services. Enjoy the variety of working different projects, at different locations around Cairns, the Tablelands and other areas of Far North QLD.
This is a full-term permanent position, based on a 38 hour week.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Interpret architectural and engineering plans
• Plan an integrated cabling installation system.
• Establish voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating and splicing cables including copper and optical fibre.
• Install telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, cable trays, ladder racks, establishing connections and integrations.
• Assemble and connect telecommunication frames and cabinets.
• Test, report and rectify faults in data and voice installations.
• Select and arrange equipment for wireless communication networks.
• Document network by labelling and routing equipment and cables, recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
- ACMA Open Cabling Licence (current registration).
- Construction White Card.
- Valid Driver's Licence
- Experience with structured cabling systems including Cat6 and Cat6A.
- Sound knowledge of standards and industry specifications.
- Experience with Molex, Commscope and Siemon product installations is advantageous.
- Ensure high quality work is maintained.
- Ability to trouble shoot and rectify issues.
- Must be physically fit and reliable.
- Must have capacity to travel and work on occasion.
- Must have the flexibility to work some overtime when required.
**Applicants will be required to undertake a National Police Check and Working With Children Check to secure ongoing employment as per clients requirements.
