OVERVIEW:
Saleem Indian Restaurant is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality Indian dishes, ensuring consistency and authenticity in flavors, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. The role requires a deep understanding of traditional Indian cuisine and the ability to create a variety of dishes using authentic spices and techniques.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare, cook, and present Indian dishes, such as curries, tandoori specialties, and traditional Indian breads, according to the restaurant’s recipes and customer preferences.
Menu Development: Assist in the creation and refinement of the restaurant's menu, introducing new dishes that reflect both traditional and modern Indian culinary trends.
Ingredient Selection: Ensure that all ingredients are fresh and of high quality, sourced locally where possible, and that stock levels are maintained.
Kitchen Management: Oversee kitchen operations, including maintaining a clean and organized work area, managing food storage, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Training and Supervision: Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, ensuring they follow proper procedures and techniques in food preparation.
Quality Control: Monitor portion sizes, presentation, and the overall quality of each dish to meet the restaurant’s high standards.
Health & Safety: Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring the kitchen is maintained to a high standard at all times.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents are encouraged to apply.
Diploma in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Chef in an Indian restaurant or a similar environment specializing in Indian cuisine.
In-depth knowledge of traditional Indian cooking techniques, spices, and ingredients.
Ability to introduce innovative dishes while maintaining the authenticity of traditional Indian flavours.
Strong ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to work well within a team.
