Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator to join Teys Naracoorte team. The Metal Fabricator will be responsible for designing, cutting, and assembling metal structures and components used in the meat processing facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that all metal equipment and machinery meet safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal parts for machinery, equipment, and plant infrastructure within the meatworks facility.
Read and interpret technical blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand the metal fabrication requirements.
Operate welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, and other tools to cut and shape metals according to project specifications.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on metal machinery and processing equipment.
Ensure all fabricated components meet the facility’s health and safety standards, particularly for hygiene-sensitive areas in meat processing.
Inspect metal structures and equipment for signs of wear, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in the meatworks industry.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to address any urgent repairs or custom metal fabrications.
Follow established safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during fabrication work.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Metal Fabricator, with specific experience in the food processing or meatworks industry preferred.
Proficiency in welding and metalworking tools, including cutting torches, welders, and grinders.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Strong attention to detail and precision in fabrication and assembly tasks.
Understanding of food safety and sanitation requirements within meat processing environments.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
Willingness to work in a cold storage or processing environment, common in meatworks facilities.
Working Hours and Benefits:
Full-time position based on a lifestyle roster.
Minimum 40 hours per week with reasonable overtime where applicable.
Hourly rate ranging from $47.26 to $62.37 with a $1.21 tool allowance per hour.
Lifestyle roster provides additional earning opportunities through overtime and cover shifts.
200 hours of annual leave allocated for employees on the lifestyle roster.
