Position Overview:
We are on the lookout for a skilled and passionate Gardener/Horticulturist to join our dedicated team on behalf of Flowers Vasette at Beechmont Garden Retreat. In this full-time role, you will be instrumental in maintaining our garden operations and ensuring top-quality production for Flowers Vasette. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience in plant growth and care, along with a strong commitment to horticulture and sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Garden Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks including weeding, mulching, pruning, and fertilizing to ensure garden health and aesthetics.
- Plant Care: Oversee the health of a diverse range of plants and flowers, ensuring their optimal growth and development.
- Soil Management: Prepare and maintain soil, including performing soil tests and amendments.
- Irrigation Systems: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot irrigation systems for efficient water management.
- Landscape Design: Assist in the design and implementation of garden layouts and planting schemes.
- Harvesting: Manage and execute the harvesting of florals and foliage according to production schedules.
- Pest and Disease Control: Apply treatments to control and eradicate pests and diseases affecting plants and flowers.
- Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain garden tools and machinery, ensuring their proper functionality.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of gardening activities, plant growth, and maintenance schedules.
- Sustainability Practices: Implement and promote sustainable gardening practices to support environmental stewardship.
- Beekeeping: Utilise prior knowledge of beekeeping practices to support plant pollination and garden health.
Selection Criteria:
- Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in plant growth and plant care, with a strong background in primary production or horticulture.
- Technical Skills: Proven expertise in gardening and horticultural tasks, including pest and disease management, soil care, and irrigation.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of plant species, soil types, pest management, and sustainable practices.
- Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in horticulture or agriculture. ChemCert accreditation is necessary.
- Prior Knowledge: Familiarity with beekeeping practices is highly desirable.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in varying weather conditions.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining exceptional standards of work.
- Communication: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
